Work has begin on Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s annual road surfacing programme, set to continue through Lewis and Harris for four weeks.
The work, in May and June is expected to include parts of the A857 Barvas to Ness road, A858 Callanish to Achmore, A859 Lochs Road, B8060 Sheildinish to Habost, A859 Arivruach and the C79 Bays of Harris.
In a statement this morning (Tuesday 11 May) a spokesperson for the Comhairle said: “It is important, in the interests of safety, that road users must take care whilst approaching and travelling through any work sites.
“Traffic management and vehicle convoy systems will be in place and the Comhairle asks that drivers please obey any temporary speed limits, warning signage and allow additional time for travelling.
“All works are weather permitting and subject to delays or cancellation. The Comhairle thanks the travelling public in advance for their assistance.”
