A Traffic Order prohibiting driving from Willowglen Road through Assaye Place in Stornoway comes into effect on Monday 31st May for a period of eight months.
The Order prohibits any person from driving any vehicle from Willowglen Road in an easterly direction through Assaye Place.
Access will be available for residents and vehicles servicing properties on Assaye Place.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar say: "This alteration to traffic movements in this area is being implemented for a trial period as a result of concerns raised regarding driver behaviour at peak traffic times.
"Although this is being implemented as a road safety measure, it should be stressed that children should be appropriately supervised when using roads and pavements and not encouraged to play on roads.
"There are obvious dangers to children emerging from between parked vehicles. Please keep them safe."
