The annual charity bike ride from the Butt of Lewis to Castlebay is going ahead again…but once again in a virtual form only.

Organisers say: "Unfortunately for the second year in a row, we are having to adapt our annual charity cycle from the Butt of Lewis to Castlebay in Barra to cycling the same mileage virtually.

"But despite the current restrictions we hope to encourage as many cyclist as possible to get on their bikes and raise some much needed cash for 2 local invaluable services, Bethesda Hospice and Crossroads Lewis.

"Historically, everyone has been hugely supportive of our three-day cycling fundraiser from individuals donating both time and money to businesses helping out with transport, bike maintenance and food to fuel the cyclists.

"If anyone would like to join us this year we are holding the event during the week beginning 26th July and whether you'd like to cycle individually or as part of a team to share the mileage, head over to our facebook page where you'll find the links for our team Justgiving pages, for Bethesda Hospice and Crossroads Lewis.

"The venture raised over £10,000 for local charities last year.  Let’s see if we can beat it this year!!  Have you signed up? Have you pumped the bike tyres up?? And more important, are you athlete ready?" say the organisers.
