The best of island produce from croft, garden and polycrub is expected to be on show as growers welcome the return of the annual horticultural show and competition.
Lewis and Harris Horticultural Producers have revived the show following the success of last year's mini-produce show in Perceval Square and the continuing popularity of home-grown produce on offer on the growers’ market stall.
The LHHP show has been long missed, since the days when it filled Stornoway town hall with an impressive array of home-grown sustenance. Now a renewed spirit of competition will be seen on Friday 27 August at the Bridge Centre,
The show is open to the public from 2pm, with prizegiving at 3.30pm, but entrants will need to get their entries in place at the Bridge Centre by 11.30am on the day, for judging to start at 12 noon.
A spokesperson for LHHP said: “Everyone can enter, the standards are croft produce standard (not RHS standards) so everyone has a chance to win.
“We know there are already some great entries growing at various crofts, plots and gardens and we are looking forward to seeing the best of what our islands can produce.”
