There was a continued growth of the number of Covid-19 cases in Lewis yesterday (Tuesday September 21)

The latest update from NHS Western Isles Chief Executive  Gordon Jamieson said there were 6 new cases on Lewis and none elsewhere in the islands .

The Lewis cases involved 2 contacts of existing cases, 3 new ones and 1 where contact tracing was ongoing.

The previous day there were 8 new cases in Lewis.  

Gordon Jamieson added that good progress has been made with Covid-19 vaccinations in the 16&17 year old age group with 74% having received the vaccine to date.

Covid-19 vaccination for 12-15 year olds starts this week with drop-in clinics on Friday, over the weekend and on Tuesday, across the Western Isles.

These clinics are also available to anyone else eligible that would like a first dose or anyone due their second dose.
