Castlebay Pool is closed as from today (Friday 22 October).

Unfortunately there has been a breakdown in both circulation pumps affecting the pool, says Comhairle nan Eilean Siar on Twitter. 

The system is designed to operate on one pump but unfortunately there havebeen two different unforeseeable faults which occurred simultaneously.

Spare parts were ordered immediately and a mainland specialist will be on site as soon as they arrive.

There is a ten-day lead time for supplying these items but it is hoped that the engineer will be able to be on site by Thursday 4 November.

If the parts arrive earlier, then it has been arranged for the engineer to travel as soon as practicable.

"We apologise for the loss of this important facility but please understand that we are dealing with it as promptly as possible.

"We will update all customers with the progress of the repairs as soon as we can," says CnES.
