The passenger in a car which left the road in Barra in the early hours of this morning (Sunday 24 October) needed police, coastguard and ambulance support after the accident.

Police Scotland contacted Stornoway Coastguard operations centre at 3.37am to say that they were at the site of a road incident, where a car had left the road near Barra golf club at Cleat.

The Barra coastguard rescue team were called to help police get the injured driver from the vehicle to a waiting ambulance.

The driver was then taken onwards by Scottish Ambulance to receive further medical attention.
