Forecast rough weather for the end of the week is causing service changes on the island ferry network.
CalMac say the Oban Castlebay service is ‘highly liable’ to cancellation on Friday (26 November), when strong winds from the north-west are forecast for northern Scotland.
They plan to try and operate an additional service on Thursday on this route and will provide an update this afternoon.
The freight service between Stornoway and Ullapool has already been cancelled tonight and tomorrow morning, due to heavy swell running from the north, and passenger services this afternoon are running on a ‘load and go’ basis ahead of schedule.
All tomorrow’s passenger sailings are on yellow alert for cancellation or timetable changes at short notice.
Met Office yellow warnings of strong winds come into force from 12noon on Friday and remain in place until 6pm on Saturday. There have been no further updates so far today.
