A new information systems manager has been appointed to assist in the development and implementation of information technology at Highlands and islands Enterprise (HIE).
Alex MacIver from Stornoway, previously worked as an installations and infrastructure tech for NHS Western Isles.
He will play a key part in ensuring that the organisation has access to secure and effective information systems. This includes responsibility for infrastructure network and cyber security for the of the organisation across the Highlands and Islands from Shetland to Argyll.
Alex qualified with a mechanical design engineer (BSc Hons) from the University of Glasgow and he also has a Masters degree in Computing Science.
In previous engineering roles, he worked all over the world including both onshore and offshore in the Gulf of Mexico, Italy and Romania and has extensive offshore experience in the North Sea and the Irish Sea.
Alex will be based at the Stornoway office although will be home-working in Newvalley near Stornoway until offices reopen.
Commenting on his new role, Alex MacIver, said: “I am delighted to be joining the central team at HIE at a really exciting time and it’s fantastic to be able to do this while living in the Isle of Lewis. I am looking forward to meeting staff across the region and working with them and stakeholders to implement and develop internal systems and networks for the organisation.”
