An auction of art, antiques and memorabilia in Stornoway next Wednesday (18 May) will raise funds for three charities that respond to emergency needs.

Stornoway’s RNLI fundraisers have joined forces with Blythswood Care, which offers support to impoverished communities in Moldova, and with Stornoway SERA, the Scottish Emergency Rescue Association, which upgrades emergency vehicles and equipment for use in countries including Ukraine and Moldova.

Working together, the three organisations are offering a range of lots for auction at the Caberfeidh Hotel on Wednesday 18 May.

For each lot, the charity to benefit has been designated, so bidders have the chance to gain themselves a new treasure for their home at the same time as supporting important causes.

Among the lots are framed photographs, paintings and drawings including of local scenes, landscapes, horses and wildlife.

Memorabilia includes Battle of Britain commemorative first day covers, signed by veterans of the war and there are antique ornaments and new housewares to further adorn island homes.

The auction starts at 7pm and all purchased lots must be taken away immediately after sale.

Pictures show two of the lots for sale – a painting of fishing boats by the late Heather Gillan and a signed Squadron 54 poster donated by Neil Pepper MBE.
