A 21-year-old man is to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal for dangerous driving, after police clocked him driving at 107mph on Saturday (14 May).

The driver was speed-checked by a police patrol during routine checks on the Braighe road, shortly after midnight on Saturday morning.

He was one of six drivers found to be infringing road traffic laws during proactive checks by Western Isles police between Friday evening and Sunday morning.

Police were active around the Stornoway area, with checks made on Perceval Road, Bayhead, at the Braighe and in the town centre.

Fixed penalties were issued to one other speeding driver, two people driving without MOT and a person charged with careless driving.

One vehicle was seized as the driver had no insurance – that driver is also to be reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
