Urras Bharabhais (Barvas Estate Trust) are facing the dilemma that the excessive use of the machair by non-agricultural vehicles is causing damage to the machair as can be seen in the photograph above.

This damage is causing environmental impacts which if not faced now and sorted may cause the machair grassland to be eroded permanently.

The stopping of this damage will allow the diversity of the machair to reestablish itself.

To allow this recovery Urras Bharabhais has obtained land through an Asset Transfer beside the Barvas Industrial Estate and are looking to develop a Motorhome/Campervan site there as in the plan below.
