Demolish a porch
Planning consent is being sought to demolish an existing porch and extend and alter 7 South Shawbost. The applicants are Mr and Mrs Alex Stewart, who gave their address as per their Inverness-based agent.
The Comhairle has received proposals to site three camping pods at 30 Fivepenny, Borve. Applicant Evelyn Graham, of the same address, is seeking planning consent for three glamping pods with decking, parking/turning area, recycling/waste point and store. The total area of the development extends to 1737 square metres.
Site a telecoms mast
4G mobile phone coverage in the Uig area could get a boost if the Comhairle gives the go-ahead for a new mast at Gisla. Telefonica is seeking planning permission for a 25m high lattice telecommunications tower at Coltraiseal Beag Cairn, Kinlochroag.
The proposal is part of the government-backed Shared Rural Network, a collaboration between mobile network operators Telefonica, Vodafone, and Three, and the UK government to improve 4G coverage for people living, working, and travelling in poorly served rural areas. The proposed site is approximately 1.5km south of the A857.
The accompanying design statement indicates that the free-standing tower development will include three ground-based cabinets, an electrical generator, a fuel tank for the generator, solar equipment, and ancillary development.
The proposed tower will support radio antennas, transmission dishes and remote radio units.
The design statement also notes that while an on-site generator has been proposed, studies are underway to establish whether an overhead electrical supply for the hillside site is feasible.
