Stornoway racing driver Isla Mackenzie has landed her dream job by securing a seat with Formula 3 team Scuderia Fern Racing.

This will be Isla’s first time driving a single-seater, and she starts testing at Silverstone in Scuderia Fern’s Dallara F3 car soon.

Announcing the latest step in her motorsport career, Isla told her online followers: “ I am so grateful to be starting my car racing journey with such an amazing team. SF Racing are the reigning Monoposto F3 Champions, and the team proudly stands by empowering women in motorsport.”

Scuderia Fern Racing, based in Wiltshire, won the 2021 Monoposto F3 championship. Over 70% of their team is female.

Earlier this year, Isla narrowly missed out on a seat in the Formula Woman national competition to fast-track six women into top-level competition and pit their driving prowess against male counterparts.

Isla, from Steinish, lives in Oxfordshire and works a day job in Formula 1 as an engine technician for Mercedes AMG High-Performance Powertrains.
