Fish Farm Public Consultation
Bakkafrost Scotland is in the process of applying for permission for a new marine aquaculture site north of Loch Odhairn, Isle of Lewis and is inviting the local community to share their views on the proposed development.
The proposal is for 5 pens (200m circumference)
and a feed barge, with associated moorings.
SEPA Aquaculture Regulatory Framework recommends that any proposed application for a marine aquaculture site should undergo a Screening Modelling and Risk Identification process. In this process SEPA identifies risks associated with releases of organic waste and medicines from the proposed farm.
This SEPA report is available online HERE
