Earlier this week, staff at UHI Outer Hebrides - formerly Lews Castle College - all came together to say goodbye as the college Principal Sue Macfarlane retired.
Sue Macfarlane was appointed as Interim Principal and Chief Executive of Lews Castle College UHI in August 2020, succeeding Iain Macmillan.
Sue had had 30 years’ experience of working in the education and skills area and was Director of Transformational Change at the University of the Highlands and Islands.
Previously Depute Principal at West Highland College UHI, Sue has also held senior management roles at SQA and Perth College UHI.
Hailing from Yorkshire originally, Sue had lived and worked in Scotland for over 35 years in all, first working in the private sector before moving into further and higher education.
She has presided over the rebranding of the college and the start of merger talks with other colleges in UHI.
The UHI OH Board Chair Archie Macdonald joined all the staff to thank Sue "for all her amazing work with us at UHI Outer Hebrides and let her know how much she will be missed.
"Though we are so sad to see Sue go, we are lucky to have our Depute Principal Hannah Ritchie-Muir step up as our new Principal.
"We wish Sue and Hannah lots of lucks for the future," the college said on Facebook.
