Local residents and organisations with hands-on experience of decarbonisation and fairness issues are invited to an informal meeting with the Just Transition Commission in Stornoway Town Hall on Tuesday October 11.
The commission will visit Lewis on October 11 and 12 to boost its understanding of the challenges and opportunities of decarbonisation for island communities.
It is expected that the likely areas of discussion may include energy, fuel poverty, heat and buildings, transport, land use and agriculture, environment, fair work and employment, and issues young people face.
The commission is an independent body that scrutinises and advises on the Scottish Government’s plans for delivering the transition to a low-carbon economy in a fair way.
