Weather disruption is expected to ferry services across the islands, as strong winds are forecast for Monday (3 October).
Services between Oban and Castlebay are cancelled for Monday, and there is a warning of disruption on the Sound of Harris later in the afternoon, on the Uig Tarbert route throughout the day and on the Lochmaddy Uig route from late morning onwards, because of winds expected to gust to 50mph.
Lochboisdale pier is currently closed while urgent remedial works are carried out, and the services between Lochmaddy, Tarbert and Uig are operating to revised timetables to accommodate displaced traffic.
But CalMac said today: “The adverse weather forecast and equipment from council redevelopment works restricts safe vessel manoeuvrability in the approach channel and pier (at Uig).
“These conditions make it difficult and unsafe to berth in the forecast wind speed and direction. The safety of our passengers, ships and crews is paramount and must come first.”
