Pecha Kucha may be the cure if you have a short attention span. Or prove to be a great way to brush up on your presentation skills.
A Pecha Kucha is an informal evening of brief talks on various topics related to a particular theme.
The free event returns to Lochmaddy courtesy of UHI Outer Hebrides and Taigh Chearsabhagh on Friday December 9. The theme for the evening is GROUND.
The typical format is 20 slides, with no more than 20 seconds per slide, thus making each presentation a smudge over six minutes. In addition, each talk is strictly timed to prevent the presenter waffling on.
Comments Taigh Chearsabhagh: “It’s a fun, fast format to work with; a great practice for those who are new to presenting, and a great exercise for those who are more well-versed.”
The theme is open-ended, with each talk ranging from the mundane and the surreal to personal and universal. Past talks have focussed on lines, dry stone walls, traditional tools, ecology, and cabinets of curiosity.
Adds Taigh Chearsabhagh: “Rosie will send out hints and tips to all interested folk and run a Pecha Kucha 101 on Wednesday 16th November at 6 pm – 6.30 pm (on Zoom). This is a good time to drop in and ask any questions you may have or float some ideas you might have for a talk. Please email Rosie for the link.”
