Applications are now being sought for a key position to steer the planned UHI colleges merger.

The University of the Highlands and Islands are looking to appoint a Transition board chair to oversee the unification of UHI Outer Hebrides (formerly Lews castle College), UHI West Highland, and UHI North Highland.

The colleges are seeking an “innovative and effective leader” who shares their vision for a newly merged college of scale and impact in the North and West Highlands and the Outer Hebrides.

The recruitment follows the boards of management formally approving the merger and business case, which has been submitted to the Scottish Government for approval.

Following the appointment of the chair, independent, staff and student members will also be recruited to the Transition Board. Eventually, this board will become the Board of Management for the merged college.

The closing date for chair applications is Wednesday, November 30.
