Underwear might seem like an everyday thing, but for people in some parts of the world – and even at home in the UK – decent underwear is a luxury.

Now a collection is to be taken in Stornoway by local representatives of the charity Smalls for All, encouraging people in the islands to say pants to poverty while having a good clear-out of unworn undies.

Local contact Nicola Nikpavlovich said: “Giving pants and bras may seem like a small thing, but it can make a huge difference. For example, not having underwear can mean girls miss days of school each month.

“We're having a collection for Smalls for All, a ‘pantastic’ charity that collects and distributes underwear to people in Africa and the UK who need our help.”

New ladies’, gents’ and children’s pants, and ‘gently worn’ or new bras, are being collected in at the Caladh Inn until the end of this month, with the cut-off for the collection on Wednesday 30 November.
