Harris Tweed Hebrides have received the prestigious ‘Made in the UK’ award, recognising commitment to luxury and sustainability while preserving the values of an island-based industry which continues to thrive.

This came on the evening of Monday 21 November at the annual Walpole Luxury Awards which brought together 400 members of the UK’s luxury industry to celebrate the creativity, innovation and global cultural relevance of the individuals and brands working in the sector.

HTH director Margaret Ann Macleod stated “It’s a real honour to accept this award on behalf of the dedicated team at Harris Tweed Hebrides, working alongside the island based home-weavers and the Harris Tweed Authority, we handweave every metre of Harris Tweed using only 100% British farmed wool, maintaining the unique traditions established well over 100 years ago when the Orb certification mark was first registered.”

Walpole recognised that “commitment to and excellence in the development and preservation of textiles skills on the Isle of Lewis has also driven significant growth key export destinations including South Korea and the US. Innovative and exceptional, this company pushes the boundaries of tradition to create an internationally respected product while safeguarding one of our country’s most treasured products through investment in training and the local community.”

As the only event dedicated to celebrating the very best of Britain, the Walpole British Luxury Awards recognise the contribution luxury and high-end businesses make to the UK.
