North Uist Distillery has announced that their shop at Nunton Steadings in Benbecula will be closed in January and February.

The closure is to enable “some exciting renovations and refurbishments” and and then it will reopen in the spring.

In the meantime, they will operate extended opening hours in the run-up to Christmas and reduced hours between Christmas and New Year.

Over the coming summer, it's expected that whisky making equipment will be installed to start a three-year build-up to whisky sales.
