Erect a polycrub

The Western Isles Mental Health Association, Penumbra, has applied for planning permission to install a polycrub and 6 Kw photovoltaic array at their 23 Bayhead, Stornoway headquarters.

The proposed site is at the rear of the main building, which fronts Bayhead Street.

The solar panels are to be located on the roof of an annexe building to the small annexe building to the rear of the property.

The proposed polycrub is to be located in the garden ground further to the rear of the annexe building on the site of a now derelict greenhouse and timber domestic-sized shed. The proposal is to remove both and erect a polycrub in their place.

The solar panels will supplement the power supply to the building, and the polycrub will be used for small-scale agriculture as part of the therapeutic activities undertaken by Penumbra.

The design statement submitted comments that both aspects of the proposed development are low-key and have no visual impact on the Stornoway Conservation Area.
