New window installation
Planning permission is being sought to install a new rear dormer window, larger ground floor windows, and minor alterations at Beasdaire. 5 Rushgarry.
The applicants are Derek and Simone Dick, of the same address.
Derek Dick, better known as the solo artist and former Marillion frontman Fish, visited Berneray last September with his German-born wife, Simone.
They currently live in Haddington, East Lothian. He is a keen gardener, host of the award-winning Fish on Friday, a Facebook live-stream, and is planning to retire.
Marillion’s first album, Script for a jester’s tear, was released 40 years ago on March 14, 1983.
He was the band’s singer and lyricist for seven years before they parted company and Fish embarked on a successful solo career.
During his time with Marillion, the progressive rock band scored 11 UK Top 40 singles, three, including Marillion’s biggest hit Kayleigh, made the Top Ten. During the Fish-era, Marillion had five Top Ten albums, including a number one with Misplaced Childhood.
After going solo, Fish was able to explore more widely musically and developed an interest in traditional folk.
He had five solo Top 40 singles and a Top Ten album.
He also turned his hand to acting and appeared in several major productions, including The Bill, Rebus, and Taggart.
