The latest island beach clean is on Saturday (1 April) as Clean Coast Outer Hebrides (CCOH) launches their summer programme of events.

Bhaltos Glen is the location of a volunteer clean-up operation, with participants set to meet opposite Timsgearraidh shop at 10am.

That’s followed on Saturday 8 April by a clean-up at Coll organised by Back Community Council, with a peninsula clean-up in Uig on 6 May also on the schedule.

CCOH will be out an about at summer shows and festivals promoting their activity and campaign, with the Midnight Sun Weekender and Hebridean Celtic Festival among their appearances.

They will also have a presence at Uig Gala, Point Show and the Westside Show in Barvas, with a talk by co-ordinator Janet Marshall on Thursday 13 April in An Taigh Ceilidh, Church Street setting the context for the summer of activity.

The picture shows pupils from Stornoway Primary School cleaning up a 100-metre stretch of the Braighe last summer (CCOH).
