The Wool Gathering, the highlight of the Outer Hebrides Wool Festival, takes place next Saturday (June 10) in Balivanich Hall.

The event is designed to be a sociable gathering for everyone interested in wool and craft.

Running from 10 am to 4 pm, the Wool Gathering includes a local yarn and crafts marketplace, talks on Eriskay knitting, weaving and North Atlantic sheep, and hands-on demonstrations of felting, fleece grading, fibre prep, spinning and weaving.

Also planned are screenings of archival footage of woolwork from the Cinema Sgìre project and the chance to craft and chatter about your current craft project and make new “woolly friends.”

The full Outer Hebrides Wool Festival programme is available on the Grimsay Community Association website.
