All flight departing and arriving into Glasgow International and Edinburgh Airport are currently suspended until further notice as Storm Ali brings winds gusting up to 63 knots (70mph approx).

Meanwhile, there are ferry cancellations the length of the islands today (Wednesday September 19th). CalMac is reporting south-westerly winds gusting up to 52 knots and high swell conditions.

 

Tonight’s 10.30pm freight service from Stornoway and the return early morning service from Ullapool tomorrow (Thursday 20th September) are already cancelled, with this afternoon’s 5.30pm passenger sailing from Ullapool also on standby for cancellation.

The disrupted service between Tarbert and Uig is cancelled for the day, but a bus will leave Tarbert office at 12noon to take any foot passengers to Stornoway to catch the 2pm sailing to Ullapool.

The service between Castlebay and Oban has been cancelled for the day today, but Thursday’s sailings are expected to go ahead, possibly on a revised timetable, subject to a review this afternoon.

Sailings between Uig to Lochmaddy are cancelled from 11.45am and inter-island services across the Sound of Harris and Sound of Barra are on yellow alert for disruption or cancellation at short notice.
