Some of the youngest athletes from the islands are sitting in top spot after last weekend’s first match in the eight-team North East division YDL athletics meet in Aberdeen.
Seven athletes from Stornoway Running and Athletics Club joined team-mates from the Uists, Orkney and Shetland on Sunday (April 28th) in an Island Select team which took on teams from all over north Scotland, including Aberdeen, Dundee and Inverness.
The Island Select Under 13s and Under 15s won match one and now sit top of the league, while the Under 17s took third place.
There were personal bests for six of the seven SRAC athletes, bringing the whole team home in high spirits.
Match two is on May 19th at Inverness.
The pictures show the SRAC boys ready for action in the Aberdeen sunshine and Francesca Greenstock with Ellen McMurdo after PBs in their races.
Overall there has been an excellent start to the season for the members island select team, backed by the volunteer coaches of SRAC who are out every week, rain hail or sunshine.
