A new weather warning has been issued this morning (Wednesday January 8th) for storm winds across the Western Isles on Friday night and into Saturday.
The Met Office issued the yellow ‘be aware’ notice at 11.42am today, saying that strong south-westerly winds are expected, with gusts of 50-60mph likely and up to 70mph gusts possible on exposed coastal and upland sites.
Once again they warn of possible power cuts, spray on coastal routes and disruption to ferries, between 6pm on Friday and 3pm on Saturday.
Cancellations have already been notified to some events. Pairc Trust have cancelled this Saturday’s health walk and a salt meat supper planned for Saturday by Kinloch community hub has been postponed to Saturday January 18th.
