BBC ALBA – Thursday 31 December 11.30pm – 1.15am

BBC ALBA will once again celebrate Hogmanay in fine style this year with a live ceilidh featuring a host of wonderful singers and musicians to help bid fond farewell to the old year and give a rousing welcome to 2016.

Cathy MacDonald and Kirsteen MacDonald will host the programme live from The Byre at Inchyra in Perthshire and a warm welcome awaits one and all.

Among the artists joining Cathy and Kirsteen for the celebrations will be Skipinnish, with another exhilarating live performance anticipated from the acclaimed six-piece band that mixes Highland tradition and contemporary sounds.

They’ll be accompanied on the night by a host of sublime acts including Mairi MacInnes, BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician 2014 Robyn Stapleton, Glenfinnan Ceilidh Band, Iain ‘Costello’ MacIver, Vale of Atholl Pipe Band and Aberfeldy and District Gaelic Choir.

And when the bells do arrive, we can expect a mystery First Foot to toast 2016 with Cathy and Kirsteen.

Cèilidh na Bliadhn' Ùire 2015 / Hogmanay Ceilidh 2015 is produced by BBC Gàidhlig for BBC ALBA and will be simulcast on BBC Radio nan Gàidheal (103.5-105FM) and worldwide via
