Only a few days to go until an Evening of Exceptional Style and tickets to the Eastgate Centre fashion and beauty extravaganza are sold out.
It's good news for members of the Lewis & Harris Women's Cancer Support Group, the charity being supported by Inverness' Eastgate Shopping Centre's weekend of island events, supported also by Loganair and Macrae and Dick.
But don't fret – there's still a chance to see what's on offer by visiting retailers at the Eastgate Pop-Up Fashion and Beauty Centre on Saturday.
On Friday, April 22nd, the Cabarfeidh Hotel pays host to the Evening of Exceptional Style which will feature a Catwalk Show of the latest Spring fashion trends, as well as Beauty Sampling and Makeover opportunities, the chance to learn how to create the perfect hair for a special event, and styles for a Red Carpet Look.
The ultimate girls night out looks set to be a popular evening, and tickets sales and raffle funds being donated to the Lewis & Harris Women's Cancer Support Group, those attending can not only check out the latest fashions, but also help raise money for a local charity at the same time.
“The tickets are now all sold out, so it's going to be quite a busy night I think,” said Lewis & Harris Women's Cancer Support Group convener Mary Macleod.
“The event has been organised by the Eastgate Shopping Centre and we're delighted that they have chosen to support us,” she continued. “The ladies from the group will be helping the models dress and selling raffle tickets, so we're looking forward to seeing everyone there.”
The Lewis & Harris Women's Cancer Support Group was founded in 1998, originally started as the Lewis & Harris Breast Cancer Support Group.
After 18 years providing support and information to those diagnosed, being treated and recovering from breast cancer, the group unanimously agreed to open up support to all types of cancer, changing name to the Lewis and Harris Women's Cancer Support Group in November last year.
The group – which meets every Thursday, 2-4pm, at the Retirement Centre, Bayhead, Stornoway – aims to alleviate the suffering and distress and advance the education of women in the Western Isles affected by cancer by offering emotional support and information, time and space to talk through fears and grief, and arranges social events, excursions during the summer months and fundraising initiatives.
And it is hoped the Lewis & Harris Women's Cancer Support Group raffle at the Eastgate Shopping Centre's Evening of Exceptional Style will help boost group funds.
Eastgate Centre Manager, Jackie Cuddy, said: “Eastgate Centre are delighted to be linking with the Lewis & Harris Women's Cancer Support Group who have provided most of the models for Friday night's show and they will benefit from all the ticket money from the show along with raffle monies raised on the night.”
The Eastgate Centre has held previous events in Stornoway, but this year wished to try something a little bit different in offering the Evening of Extravagant Style.
Jackie said: “As the farthest north Shopping Centre we are aware that our catchment covers an area the size of Belgium.
“We really appreciate the visits from the islanders so want to give something back by bringing elements of the Shopping Centre over to them. We always look forward to the warm welcome we receive and realise how important it is to people living in remote areas that we give them access to the latest trends and products.”
She continued: “It is because of this that we changed the format this year to include a Fashion and Lifestyle event on the Friday, which is unfortunately already sold out!
“However, nobody need miss out as all the beauty and cosmetic houses will still be there on the Saturday at the Pop Up Fashion and Beauty Shopping Centre doing make overs and giving advice.
“Fashion houses will also be on hand on the Saturday between 10am and 8pm to offer style advice. All products will be on sale too and the Fashion houses will be equipped with i-pads should that item you want not be available on the day, we are offering free delivery on all items bought on the Friday or Saturday,” Jackie added.
Fashion houses and retailers to feature over the Eastgate Centre island weekend include Phase Eight, Debenhams, Ness, New Look, Urban Decay, Benefit, Estee Lauder, YSL, Clinique and Clarins.
And car dealership Macrae and Dick Mazda, Ford and Honda, will be at the Cabarfeidh as part of the events, with a selection of new models for test driving, including the new Fort Mustang, Mazda CX-3 and Honda HR-V.
