Dementia Awareness Week for this year runs from 30th May to 5th June.
This year the theme is challenge. Set a challenge and make a change to improve the lives of people with dementia and their carers. The challenge is to scope and identify ways to reach and support people with dementia at later stages who are not able to access support services or community activities and to reach and support carers that are not able to come along to carer support meetings (or prefer other options for accessing support including use of technology).

Mon 30th May: Open day at the Dementia Resource Centre 18 Bells road, Stornoway. Pop in or phone – someone available from 9am-7pm.

Tuesday 31st May: Peer support meeting with Upstream travel re transport experiences and difficulties on Western Isles for people with dementia and their carers.Tuesday 31st May: Final pop up Memory Café, Erisort Ward, 2.30pm-4pm.
Tuesday 31st May: Lewis and Harris Branch AGM. 7pm-9pm. Grianan Recreation room – all welcome.

Wednesday 1st June: Wear purple day (organised by Health Board offices) – please feel free to organise in your own work place.
Wednesday 1st June: Dementia café/Drop in session: Ravenspoint, 2pm-3.30pm.
Wednesday 1st June: 6pm – 7pm finale Drop a Dress Size event – final results!

Thursday 2nd June: Volunteer awards 7pm Town Hall.

Friday 3rd June: Open day Clan MacQuarrie – 1 year anniversary Dementia café Ness. With An Lanntair DFC project supporting event.
Friday 3rd June: Kids Olympics, All weather Pitch Smith Avenue, 6.30-8pm.

Saturday 4th June: Care for a Ceilidh and light lunch at Solas Day centre, opportunity for people with dementia and carers/families to see Technology Demo Centre.
