With passenger numbers at Stornoway Airport growing and a whole range of new air services available, craftspeople in Lewis and Harris are being encouraged to contact the airport shop to discuss ways they could sell products through the shop.
Donald Martin, who runs the shop and café services in the departures lounge and in the main terminal itself, said: “We are looking to work with local crafts people, in particular those involved in Harris Tweed. All small craft items will be considered for display and sale.”
He said the arrangements with suppliers could be on a sale or return or a commission basis. He added: “That is how we would envisage operating , however, depending on the type of business , there are other possibilities."
Donald wants as wide a range as possible to be available to tempt travellers to browse the displays. He asks craft producers “Please visit the airport café with samples where we will have the opportunity to discuss aspects further.”
