Taking a quick..ish scoot around the Western Isles will take on a whole new meaning after a new exploit by grandmother Dinah Bosomworth.
For the 52 years old plans to do just that, travel the Western Isles – not to mention Isles of Skye and Mull as well - on a two-wheeled scooter!
Starting on Thursday (April 20) the grandmother-of-four, together with a bright orange kick-scooter nicknamed Nerys will depart from Oban before making her way from Vatersay to the Butt of Lewis on The Hebridean Way.
After that, she will go across Skye from Uig to Armadale. Once over to Mallaig she goes on to Kilchoan, before putting in a loop on Mull and then from Oban to home in Mid-Argyll.
On the way the massage therapist, who lives in Ormsary near Lochgilphead, also hopes to raise a total of £3,500 to support the work of the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH).
She said: "I'm an unadventurous (so far!) mum , with four grandchildren., and a husband who thinks this whole venture is a bit mad, but is supportive.
"Last year was not a good one for the young folk of Mid-Argyll, with several suicides amongst our young guys and I felt that I needed to raise some money for SAMH and also to raise awareness of Mental Health issues in our young people, and thought that it was going to have to be big and crazy.
"I was googling scooters for one of my grandchildren and then had a light bulb moment and had a look for grown-up scooters and there they were!
"I'm starting off on Thursday the 20th April from Oban and I reckon it will be about 472 miles, (possibly a bit more as I am prepared to take 'long cut' for safer bits of road) and take me approximately two weeks.
"I'll be camping, so will be carrying all my gear.
"Please sponsor me, and if you see me on the road, I would love some gluten-free cake occasionally!"
