Community Upgrades will benefit this week from another £3,883 - the proceeds of the Lottery for the month of November.
This is the third pay-out since the launch of the island lottery in August, bringing the total raised so far to £11,575. And the lottery team emphasis that this could be so much more if everybody joined in by supporting from as little as just £1 a week.
The aim of setting up the Western Isles Lifestyle Lottery was to improve the aesthetics, amenities and events throughout the Western Isles.

As main sponsors, they are proud to have worked in partnership with Stornoway Amenity Trust and ACES Electrical Services over recent weeks to transform Stornoway town centre using a variety of lighting techniques.
Upgrades are also being enjoyed in areas across the Western Isles with lottery proceeds returning to the area of the supporter using a postcode system. Anybody with a UK postcode can join in.
Exchanging innovative lighting ideas with groups in Harris and Barra will result in these areas also being lit up. And it is hoped that much of the display can continue to be enjoyed beyond the Festive Season.
The Western Isles Lifestyle Lottery is already over 25% of the way to the long term target; and the team say they are delighted to be returning such large sums back to the community on a monthly basis.
A total of £4,500 has also been won in Cash Prizes by winners from across the Western Isles and beyond – and a growing number of local businesses are now supporting the lottery, acknowledging the potential such a fund-raising scheme can bring to the islands.
And there is more: every lottery ticket purchase between now and December 23rd receives automatic entry into the separate Festive Luxury Prize Draw.
To help encourage support, a two-night stay in a Luxury Apartment in Lews Castle, including a welcome luxurious hamper, has been generously donated by Natural Retreats PLUS £200 spending money donated by W J MacDonald, Family Butchers.
The lottery website - - undergoes an upgrade to advertise each local company, giving direct links to their own website pages in an effort to benefit the local economy.
Up until end December, Eoropie Playpark are receiving the proceeds from Ness & Westside area to help provide outdoor toilets for those who visit.
Balivanich Playpark are receiving the Uist proceeds to upgrade their facilities; and Uig Community Centre will be in a position to purchase large play items as well as provide two sports clubs for the young people in the area by receiving funds from the Uig/Breasclete/Lochs area.
From January 2018 a further six winning projects will be awarded the next period of funding. How much is raised is purely dependent upon the level of supporters in each area - the more support from your own community, the higher the funding for your local project!
The vast majority of lottery supporters join by Direct Debit payments, ensuring an ongoing level of support, with those purchasing ad-hoc tickets adding to the funds.
Every £1 ticket adds to the benefits.
Those wishing to be considered for funding can contact via email on the lottery website, or contact the local group who manage the funds in your area.
If the long term target of 5,000 weekly tickets is met, this would mean a Weekly Prize Pot of £1,000; with £3,000 each week being returned to the community. That adds up to a lot of funding, for a lot of improvements.
Even if this current level is maintained, over £40,000 during the first year of operation will be raised for the islands. It is staggering the amount that could be raised with more supporters.
