Camanachd Leòdhais are top of their league, after taking their eighth consecutive win on Saturday (5 August) at Canal Park in Caol.

The shinty side were away from home against Kilmallie, who are now five points behind them in the Mowi North division two league.

The match was played in torrential rain, with two early goals from Donnie MacRae and Donald Lamont helping to keep the spring in the island team’s step.

Although they were more on the back foot in the second half, Lewis Camanachd kept fighting and held Kilmallie to a single answering goal, to end the match as 2-1 winners.

A statement from the team said: “The match sees us go top of the league – Lochcarron have two games in hand and could well usurp us before too long but, for now, we will enjoy the feeling!”

The Dubh is Gorm are back in action again this coming Saturday (12 August), away to Boleskine.
