Outbreaks of rain will become heavy and persistent overnight (Saturday October 7-Sunday October 8) and may lead to some disruption, according to the UK Met Office, whose warnings of rain on the mainland have led to the halting of train services in many places across Scotland and on the West Coast Main Line.

The rain will start to fall around 9pm and carry on until 2pm on Sunday.

What to expect, the Met Office says:
  • Bus services probably affected with journey times taking longer
  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer

Outbreaks of rain through Saturday will become heavier and more persistent overnight and during Sunday morning before clearing eastwards.

Some places may see 50-60mm of rain during this period.
