Following the closure of the Lochmaddy branch of the Bank of Scotland yesterday (Monday, February 26), Taigh Chearsabhagh Post Office is reminding the community they offer banking services.

Personal and business banking services are available through the Post Office, such as cash withdrawals and deposits to various banks, including Bank of Scotland accounts.  The Post Office is open Monday - Friday, 10 am - 4 pm.  Leaflets outlining the full range of postal and banking services are available.

Meanwhile, the Bank of Scotland is launching a Community Banker service at Taigh Chearsabhagh in the coming weeks.

The Lochmaddy branch closed permanently yesterday as part of a larger series of downsizing of branch networks by the banks.

Isles MP Angus MacNeil criticised the banking giant Lloyds for suggesting customers should be willing to take a ferry to deposit their money.

After a local branch closes, the Bank of Scotland’s Community Banker scheme offers customers a skeleton banking service and account support.

They can help customers with payments and transfers, account management, and registering for telephone online and mobile app banking.

Community bankers are based within a designated location and available during their listed opening hours.
