Point and Sandwick Trail are telling the public to get on their bikes – their electric bikes, to be precise.

The trail ranger will offer free e-bike hire from Lewis and Harris Auction Mart on Saturday, April 20 and from Aird Community Centre on Saturday, April 27.

The electric-powered bikes will be available for up to a full day.

Point and Sandwick Trail are keen for the local community to try an e-bike and decrease their dependence on cars. They will be available for free to individuals aged 14 or over.

Further information can be obtained by calling the ranger on 07300 518146.

The Point and Sandwick Trail is a 40 km circular route run by a volunteer committee and is a registered charity.

The trail is divided into eight shorter routes and includes links to shorter circular walks in the area.

HIE and the Energy Savings Trust fund the organisation’s e-bikes.
