The Uist and Barra Football League kicked off last night (Fri, April 12) with a decisive 5-1 away win for Eriskay against Southend FC.

The game, however, was dominated by the strong wind. Both sides went into the half-time break with a goal apiece.

Though Southend had most of the possession, they failed to test the stand-in Eriskay keeper. Eriskay talisman Dominic Macaulay opened the first half scoring with a solo effort that Southend only managed to match on the stroke of half-time thanks to a Shaun T tap-in from close range.

In the second half, Southend played into the wind and struggled to make an impression, with chances in front of goal few and far between.

Eriskay fared much better in the second-half conditions, adding three more goals and then a fifth with minutes remaining.

Dominic Macaulay scored a second time for Eriskay, Jonathan Beaton bagged a brace, and Angus MacAlister made the scoresheet with a single.
