Forget the Epstein files, they are old hat. There are now the Caley Bar files uncovered during the renovation of the Stornoway hotel by SSEN.

The handwritten notes record the names and misdemeanours that led to customers being banned from the premises, some for life.

The ‘barred files’ were compiled by staff as a record of those who are to be denied service and why. The notes date back to 2012.

Among the anti-social behaviour listed are threatening behaviour, swearing at staff, trying to start fights, throwing pool balls, and breaking a customer’s pool cue.

Now Isles comedian, Stuart Kennedy, has published his take on the findings in a TikTok video.

SSEN Transmission took over and began renovating the Caledonian Hotel at the beginning of the year. The refurbishment is tied to SSEN’s Lewis Hub project, with the hotel being repurposed to house personnel during construction.

Once the Lewis energy hub is completed, it is expected that the landmark hostelry will reopen to the public. 

The Caledonian and its public bar closed in 2013.
