Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Sgioba na Gàidhlig is hosting meetings, starting tomorrow (Thursday), to discuss the process of establishing àrainnean within the wider Area of Linguistic Significance.
The team also hope to produce individual pathfinder plans in these communities.
Following the Scottish Languages Act 2025, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is proposing designation of the Western Isles as an Area of Linguistic Significance. These meetings are an important aspect of this work and will give communities ownership of funding opportunities and the coordination of Gaelic activity in the area.
Individuals and representatives from organisations who wish to be present are invited to join either by Teams or in person as appropriate.
Some meetings are wholly online due to time and travel constraints.
