Ferry traffic and other road users were hoping the flood-hit Lochs Road on the outskirts of Stornoway reopened this morning (Saturday, October 3) and then is able to stay open.
The affected part of the road between Arnish Road end and Creed Recycling Centre was closed in both directions by Police Scotland last night.
The flooding occurred in the known flood-prone stretch of road after heavy rainfall during much of Friday.
More rain was forecast overnight and into Saturday morning.
Despite several attempts to improve drainage in the area, the stretch of road has been blocked by floods on a regular basis since at least the 1960s.
Police Scotland reported on Facebook that the road was reopened around 8am today.
