Maintenance Engineer

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Senior Technician you will provide a high standard of Engineering Services within the company supporting processing, Harvest operations and other sites within the business as and when required, working closely with department and site supervisors and managers you will ensure the smooth day to day operation of all machinery whilst maintaining the expected high levels of Health and Safety standards and procedures are met.

Person Specification – Essential

  • Experience of working in a FMCG Environment.
  • Structured and practical Engineering Training e.g. apprenticeship/HNC
  • Flexibility to cover shift work
  • Basic knowledge of IT systems word/office, CMMS etc.
  • Ability to work in a safe manner following all site H&S protocols, Risk Assessment’s sops, and SSOW.
  • A strong team player as well as the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Ability to participate in the department on call rota.
  • Ability to work under pressure/to deadlines.
  • Aware of importance of environmental issues.
  • Basic experience with welding, fabrication skills and mechanical engineering
  • Experienced in Mechanical engineering and maintenance.
  • Experience in general building, plumbing, and electrical works. Training will be given
  • Ability to make sure all planned maintenance (PPM,s) are met on time.
  • Ability to prioritise workload to meet the needs of the business.

Person Specification - Preferable

  • Previous experience within the food processing industry preferred but not necessary as training will be given
  • Sound understanding of the importance of health and safety at all times.

Role Accountabilities

  • To ensure the smooth day to day operation of all processing and plant machinery
  • To ensure issued PPM,s are carried out correctly and on time and logged on the company CMMS platform.
  • Respond to any Engineering issues that arise on site promptly and ensuring down time is kept to a minimum.
  • Liaise and work alongside contractors when required.
  • Take part in out of hours on call rota responding to all process and fire alarms and any machinery or system failures.
