Advocacy Western Isles are recruiting for a full time Learning Disabilities (LD) Advocacy Worker (35 hours per week) - £25,662/annum + pension, fixed term to 30th June 2023
- Based in the Stornoway office and covering Lewis and Harris
- Driving licence and use of own vehicle is essential. Mileage paid monthly.
- Full advocacy training will be provided.
Learning Disability Advocacy aims to ensure people’s voices are heard, they are listened to, their rights are upheld, and they are involved in decisions made about them.
The main duties of the LD Advocacy Worker position will be to provide support to all people with learning disabilities. The work involves one-to-one advocacy, non-instructed advocacy and collective advocacy, in particularly giving support to the Speak Out Group (SOG), the Disabilities Advocacy Collective (DAC) and the SMILE (See Me I want to Live Equally) Project. Extensive experience of working with people with learning disabilities and experience of managing groups is essential.
