After numerous call-offs due to the weather, a group of Sgoil Lionacleit pupils finally made it to Mingulay at the weekend.

The trip to the now uninhabited island, organised by Ceòlas and Comunn na Gàidhlig, gave pupils an insight into the lives of those who used to live there and how, despite the sunny weather on the day, hard life must have been for them.

Uist Sea Tours took the group to Mingulay. Along the way, they spotted plenty of wildlife, including risso dolphins, a harbour porpoise, a minke whale, seals on the beach at Mingulay, and puffins.

The trip was also supported by the Sealladh na Beinne Mòire community fund.
