The Innovation Centre at Lews Castle College, which was launched publicly in August, is now officially open and looking for participants interested in updating their skills with training in high-technology or entrepreneurship, who have an idea for a business, or who would like to start their own business in the future.
The centre, located in the Stornoway campus of Lews Castle College, provides training in modern high-technology and entrepreneurship, and offers advice and development facilities for those who would like to start their own business.
Facilities are available to help members of the community develop business ideas into a product, while aspiring entrepreneurs can get advice on business and technical matters, as well as an insight into the skills needed to develop a business plan.
The training currently available at the Innovation Centre includes a variety of courses covering basic coding; starting a business; basic electronics; running a business; and advanced programming, electronics, and microcontroller systems development. The courses are available at a reduced cost for anyone who is college-certified and wants to undergo technical or business training, and some are also available in distance learning formats.
