The Lews Castle College Maritime department is proud to join their colleagues at Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Stornoway Port Authority, and the members of the local fishing and aquaculture industries in supporting National Merchant Navy Day 2020.

As a college and academic partner of the University and the Highlands and Islands, they are dedicated to delivering high quality further and higher education to the local communities. The Lews Castle College Maritime Department has also been providing quality training to the seafarers of the Outer Hebrides, and beyond, since 1953.

The Maritime Department provides a wide range of industry-standard safety and vocational courses, on a full-time or part-time basis, for anyone interested in pursuing a career in the Merchant Navy, Fishing, or Aquaculture industries. These qualifications can lead to positions such as deck-crew on ferries, aquaculture, and maritime shipping and fishing boats, or as Officer Cadets in the Merchant Navy.

They also offer a wide range of CPD opportunities for anyone already employed in these sectors, and for those involved in leisure sailing. Lews Castle College is also an approved centre for a range of RYA, Seafish, and MCA courses.
