On Wednesday 5th December, the Minister for Further Education, Higher Education, and Science, Richard Lochhead MSP, launched the Statement of Ambition for Scotland’s college sector at an event held at West Lothian College.

Created with input from Colleges Scotland – the collective voice of the college sector in Scotland – as well as colleges across the country, and other key partners, the Statement of Ambition sets out a vision, mission and series of values for the college sector for the five years 2018-2023.

The Circumpolar Crafters Network – a craft event hosted by the Nunavut Government of Canada to promote the exchange of skills and increase trade between network members – took place in Manndalen in Norway last month, and Lews Castle College UHI Fashion Lecturer Annette "Netty" Sopata was one of the designers invited to attend.

The festive season got off to a strong start this weekend for staff, students, and alumni of Lews Castle College UHI’s music courses in Benbecula, who won multiple awards at the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards on Saturday (1st December).
